I couldn’t decide what the next episode of the podcast should be. With a backlog of recorded interviews, somehow none of them felt right for this moment. So, instead of forcing it, I leaned into the unknown and let the empty space be, trusting something would emerge…
Just a day before scheduled release, I had a conversation with a friend – a visual artist – and we talked about the insecurities that come with putting your art out there for the world to see.
What makes us feel so vulnerable about sharing it? As an expression of who you are, if your art is rejected, could it mean that your expression – and therefore, you – are somehow invalid? Unacceptable?
What is art, really? And from that, next question – what makes good art?
For me, “bad” would leave you indifferent. You look at it and… nothing. No spark, no shift, no connection. But good art? Good art moves you. It stirs something. Far from just being about beauty or aesthetics – it’s about connection. Art is a conversation. A moment when you feel seen, or understood – while engaging with a piece of art. You are invited by the artist.
You can invite others, too.
You see, it’s important for your soul to create art – it offers a container for you to explore your own inner world, splattered across the canvas.
In this episode, I dive into these questions. How art transcends the visual and moves into music, experiences, even social media posts – because art isn’t just about a canvas or a stage. Anything that is created with intention, that draws you in and makes you feel.
