Money is like love

I met Alex at a storytelling night. And although he shared an anecdote about swimming with dolphins, there was something else he said about his background and worldview, that piqued my curiosity…

He said: “Make money more like love.

I had questions.

Something in that phrase made me think that interviewing this guy could be interesting. And only after learning that he is a real estate investor and an investment educator, made me realise that having him on the podcast – would be like striking gold.

Money IS part of our human experience – a very inherent part. Means of exchange, means of communication, means of payment, means of survival… Alex in his open and friendly way shared his perspective from an emotional – and spiritual – angle.

In our conversation, he had shared his story, his practices and his aspirations – and above all: his relationship with his business partners across numerous deals… and of course, his relationship with – and to – money.

There is something in Alex’s approachability and openness that made this conversation in addition to being educational – ever more enjoyable.

When editing this episode, I wondered why is it hard to relate to money like love? Maybe my attitude to love was flawed. I got used to the notion of love as “I love you because of XYZ“. And only in the recent years, I realised that this is not love. Love gives – without expectations… Can money be like that, too?

Giving, without expectations.

Maybe you were like me, growing up in the scarcity mindset: in my case in a post-Soviet republic where everything was scarce and money was habitually losing its value. Or maybe you grew up in the family where financial lack was part of the dinner conversation. In any case, I hope you benefit from hearing about Alex’s relationship to money – that would help you nudge your relationship with it towards financial abundance and prosperity.
